Fire/ Smoke Damage Emergency Cleaning Tips (after deemed safe)

DOs

DON'Ts

  • Do NOT spray liquids on any metal surfaces affected by soot. Doing so could cause secondary damage to the metals and increase the chance for corrosion.
  • Do NOT use any liquids to clean porous surfaces inside the home such as unpainted drywall, unfinished wood products and brick. Doing so could inset the soot into the surface making it more difficult for a professional to remove.
